A few words about August Rodin
François-Auguste-Rene Roden (1840-1917), was a French sculptor known for his realistic style and especially for his famous sculpture "The Thinking Man". At the beginning of his artistic career he made a living from performing carvings, and three times his applications for admission to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris were rejected. The turning point came in the mid-19s with his first important work, The Bronze Age, purchased by the French government. "The Thinking Man" is the most famous statue of Rodin and was copied on a monumental scale in both marble and bronze and won numerous reproductions on a smaller scale.
