"I can't paint the way they want me to paint, and they know it too. Of course, you say I have to be practical and I should try to paint the way they want me to paint. Well, I'll tell you a secret. I've tried and tried very hard, but I can't do the It. I just can't do it! And that's exactly why I'm just a little crazy" - Rembrandt. From the 25 most influential creators project

Selected quotes by the painter Rembrandt:

"Do not waste time digging in a dead theory. Look at nature. Pay attention to everything that surrounds you. Look at man and woman. Pay attention to how they move, how they behave in everyday life. Look closely at what their hands do and what their eyes look like. Capture in your memory how people cry happily. "Or laugh when they want to cry. The dynamics of natural emotional expression are everything to the artist."

"I can not paint the way they want me to paint, and they know it too. Obviously, you say I have to be practical and I must try to paint the way they want me to paint. Well, I'll tell you a secret. Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), Dutch painter, draftsman, print and engraving artist, born in Leiden. His life as an artist is usually divided into three periods. Early life as an artist (1620-1635), the period in which he studied the art of painting and printmaking. This period is also known as the Leiden period after the city where he was born. The heyday (1635-1640), the period in which Rembrandt was considered a major artist of influence and power. Many of the wealthy of the Netherlands enjoyed his works. Rembrandt was the first to place the figure of the artist at the center of high society life. His last period (1640-1669), a period of depression in his private life. He lost his property and lost his family. During this period he created his most famous works, characterized by depth, great movement and drama in the creation of light and shadow.
