More information about the product

Fixative spray made by the leading English company Winsor & Newton is available in two sizes: 150 ml and 400 ml.
The spray is intended for use in drawing in pencils, charcoal, oil pastel and soft pastel between each layer of paint and at the end of the work on the piece. The fixative provides fixation of the paint layer, protecting, preserving and preventing smearing. The fixative fixes dry media particles and does not allow them to disperse at all. Spraying the drawing or painting at the end, provides a protective layer and durability over time, maintaining the vitality of the paint and preventing fading and yellowing. The fixative is transparent and dries quickly.

Unlike wet painting dimensions, such as oil or acrylic paints or others, in which the paint layers dry out and you can easily continue to add layers on top, in dry media the paint is laid in only one layer. The paint does not set and dries and when the rest continue to work and add more layers, you are actually working on the same layer. The problem with this is the smearing of paint and clutter in a drawing or painting. If you want to make an initial background layer with additional layers and work on details and accuracies, it is very difficult to do this without the use of a fixative material. The fixative 'sticks' the dry paint on the painting substrate and prevents it from moving and smearing. The material is transparent and does not change color and does not add shine. The next coat of paint will be easily made and will not be damaged in the bottom coat. In this way it is easily possible to make intricate drawings and drawings, and even combine the various materials, for example drawing in pencil or pastel chalk over a layer of charcoal.

Instructions for use of fixative spray

Choose a well-ventilated place, away from other people. Slice nylon or a work surface and place the drawing or drawing on it. Shake the spray and spray the drawing or painting at a distance of 30-50 cm in a continuous motion. Leave the drawing to dry, drying should be quick (otherwise it means you sprayed too much). If it is a finished work, spray a second layer and leave to dry. Cover The spray bottle should be covered with a lid and stored away from children, in a shady and cool place (neither in the refrigerator nor in exposure to the sun or near fire).
