The art of calligraphy is artistic and decorative writing. Calligraphy is an important and ancient field in East Asian art and is widespread in China even today. It is considered the most refined form of painting. In the field of calligraphy, the use of a nail pen stands out. The calligraphy nib was invented at the beginning of the 18th century and replaced other writing tools that were common at the time, such as the quill, a feather (usually a goose feather) used for writing. This pen has a nailhead made of metal with a thin, flat tip. From the tip of the nail there is a very narrow space leading to a small hole, which serves as a kind of alcove where the ink is concentrated. When writing with a fingernail, be sure to keep the desired writing angle and not change it from the moment you place the fingernail on the writing pad for the entire length of the writing. In this way the thickness of the line will change depending on the direction in which you move the pen. Note that the movement in calligraphy is from the wrist and not by moving the pen with the fingers.
