More information about the product

A composition frame is an important aid for drawing or sketching, especially when painting outdoors. Using it, it is easy to focus on the section you want to draw and choose the format of the work. The frame includes 2 parts in the shape of the letter R and 2 connecting pins, so you can easily change the ratio between the height and width, as well as its structure (horizontal or vertical for those objects). Maximum frame size: 8 cm x 12 cm.

Composition frame for painting and drawing

When you draw from observation and not from a photograph or imagination, you choose a certain section of what the eye sees and the surrounding background becomes irrelevant. To make it easy to focus attention on the selected section, it is convenient to 'frame' it. This is the role of the composition frame. The composition is an arrangement of elements of the work of art that unites the elements into one whole. When choosing the composition, you must choose the object, the background and the format. The object is the main subject of the work, the background is the secondary subject that surrounds the object. The format is the ratio between the height and width of the drawing. One subject, such as a still life or a natural landscape, can give countless different compositional arrangements. The composition frame allows you to check, change and choose the selected ratio between the street and the height as well as the arrangement of the elements in the painting composition. Carrying out exercises in choosing different compositions from one subject are excellent for developing artistic perception and vision.

When creating a composition, the artist deals with three elements: format, object and background. The fourth component of the composition, which is actually only relevant for the viewer, is the subject, the relationship of the artist to the object of the work.
