A video of the painting process using a kit for painting a ceramic statue in a light bronze shade, for example:

After working on a ceramic sculpture and after burning it in the oven, you get a sculpture in the natural shade of the clay, which is not always satisfying and therefore it is advisable to give it a certain finish.

Many sculptors often coat the ceramic sculpture with different glazes, with a matte or glossy texture, in solid or colored colors, with or without different effects. This method requires further burning of the sculpture and allows for a beautiful and very durable layer of the sculpture. Sometimes however the glaze causes the natural character of the sculpture to be lost. While adding beauty, the glaze reduces the natural expression.

Cherkov developed a fairly simple method of coloring to give the clay sculpture the appearance of another material, more noble than clay: bronze, aluminum, wood and more. The painting method became popular among the participants of Charkov's sculpture workshops and motivated us to create ready-made painting kits, which include all the materials required for the various painting stages. A clay statue with a light bronze-like appearance can be obtained using the light bronze statue painting kit in front of you.

After painting the statue, the kit can be reused to paint additional statues according to the amount that remains. A mixture of plastic glue with gouache does not spoil, the color sinks to the bottom and the glue floats to the top, and when you use the mixture again - mix well. Oil paint mixture with turpentine and linseed oil valid for 3 months.  Beyond a detailed explanation of the painting method »
