Drawing used in the past mainly as a preliminary technique for painting or sculpting and making sketches, but today, with the changes in the art world, drawing has a status similar to the status of painting and the distinction between them has become less clear, so drawings can be found in exhibitions.

Coal is one of the oldest means of drawing in art, and in prehistoric times it was used for cave paintings. Coal is an interesting, spontaneous material with a variety of options. Any touch of charcoal on white paper has a presence that conveys a dramatic feel. Coal ranges from emotional, free and expressive expression to dirt and a sense of chaos. These qualities of coal enable the processing of positive and negative feelings. Charcoal has a very wide black-gray range, which expands and flexes the range of emotions. Beyond that, charcoal allows for stratified work and thus deeper emotional work. Through the creation of grids in the upper layers, a sense of depth is created in the painting, and it is possible to look through them into deeper and deeper layers.

Drawing is a special form of thought, which translates the artist's vision and perception into images on paper. The drawing combines the activity of the two lobes of the brain with the left being responsible for fulfilling the rules of proportion, perspective and light and shadow while the right is responsible for the emotional and creative expression. There are countless exercises for developing drawing in the right and left lobes, which directly affect the development of perception and building a solid and broad base for color painting and sculpture.

Drawings are usually made in black using a pencil on white paper, but the options are varied and include drawing using colored pencils, pastel chalks and charcoal on paper in different colors (e.g. white pastel pencil on black paper). It is advisable to experiment with the different means of registration and combine different papers until you find the preferred method of registration. This drawing kit includes basic means of drawing to become familiar with the materials and to develop drawing skills comprehensively.
