Painting as a form of perception of reality

Alexander Cherkov discusses painting as a form of perception of reality with his personal reference to painting.

Painting as a form of perception of reality by Alexander Cherkov, from the book Introduction to the World of Art "Sculpture, painting, drawing and more"

Tons of paper have been written on the painting, and yet it is not enough. However I do not want to involve quotes from existing sources, while hiding the responsibility of my understanding behind them and I will take a risk to present my personal opinion, even if it is controversial.

For me, of the existing types of art, painting is the most incomprehensible from the point of view of logic. I must admit that I am not at all interested in what style, what era, and what kind the painting in front of me belongs to. It's embarrassing to say, but I do not care about the pictures themselves. They are really worthless (priceless) to me, in the literal sense of the word. I very much understand Alberto Giacometti, who said that if he had been given a choice - to save from the fire a painting of Rembrandt or a cat, he would have chosen a cat. And then lets her go.

Me what is interesting and exciting about painting - they are the painters themselves. Their joy is the main thing and the suffering, the ecstasy or the disappointment, the enlightenment or the madness - are what make me look long (or listen?) At the paintings. This may not be a commodity that has monetary value, but should be accessible to everyone, as in rally museums, founded by Harry Recanati.

Painting as a form of perception of reality

Drawing for me is a special form of objective perception of reality, a way of understanding the world through the prism of a subject The composition. To me, painting is not an artistic object, but an event like a concert in which the artist masters a symphony of color, as the conductor of a symphony orchestra.

However, even the most complex drawing is created with 7 colors of the spectrum, like the music from the 7 notes.

בPrinciples of color theory I present and explain my view of color and the conclusions I reached during my experience in painting and teaching painting. In addition, I refer to optical illusions and the complexity of the perception of color that affect our painting.
