A few words about Edgar Degas
The artist Edgar Degas (1834-1917), a French painter and sculptor, is considered one of the fathers of the Impressionism approach. Degas never adopted the impressionist paint stain and was mainly interested in the movement of the body. Degas painted horses, women, dancers, laundresses and hatters, mostly hard-working people. He puts emphasis on the physical dimension of the figures he painted, the ballerinas reflect a light movement flowing with an athletic physique, while his paintings of laundresses show a heavy and solid physique. The beginning of his work is naturalistic and over time his paintings become more and more abstract.
