A few words about Alexander Archipenko
Alexander Arkhipenko (1887-1964), was a Ukrainian-American sculptor whose most figurative works are Cubist, with an emphasis on female figures. In the works of Archipenko, the simplification of the forms and the integration of empty spaces as part of the sculpted figures stand out. Archipanko used the empty space as 'material'. You can see a lot of play between concave and convex - sunken and prominent, as well as use of the glare of light and shadow falling in his sculptures. Archipanko's works can be seen in the collection of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Israel Museum.
